Hello dear!
Welcome to my little spot on the internet. I am Idania, a passionate wellness nut, mom, wife, professional musician, and health coach.
I am a Cuban living in Canada with my loving husband and little girl. My family is my most precious treasure and inspiration to grow and be a better human every day.
But not long ago, I lived a life where being a great professional was my only goal. I sacrificed my health, mental well-being, relationships, and self-esteem to achieve this goal. Back then, I was working as a professional musician.
My Story
I started my musical career when I was only ten years old, much encouraged by my parents. Since I was very young, they closely observed my creativity and inclination toward the arts, and that is why they thought it was a fantastic idea for me to start art school.
Despite the long hours I spent practicing during my childhood, sacrificing my social life and playing time, I loved music, which helped me develop an original personality, express myself differently, and surround myself with fascinating people.
The only bug was that I spent so much time mastering Music that I practically didn’t develop the necessary social skills for adult life.
I went out to the world.
So, after graduating from the University of Arts in Havana, Cuba, I went out to the world and started my stories of struggles.
My idea of success was to become a great musician, work hard and make a lot of money. I left out of the equation friendships, family (in fact, I moved four hours away from my parents), and, of course, my well-being and health.
I was utterly disconnected from true love, spirituality, and peace. And the person I was most distant from was myself.
So I became a workaholic! I had three jobs and no days off.
Most of the time, I was running from one place to another. So my lunch and dinner used to be ice cream or whatever fast food I could find. I constantly felt anxious and not good enough at my job and relationships.
On top of that, I was often attracted to toxic romantic relationships due to my lack of boundaries. As a result, I constantly forced my emotions and feelings while living wholly divorced from my body, mind, and soul.
The only thing that mattered to me was excelling as a musician. I followed the idea I had learned since childhood: becoming a devoted professional was the only way to be successful and happy.
Where did everything begin?
It is not surprising that in 2015 I became very sick.
I had this horrible rash from head to toe that got worse every time I ate, especially my favorite gluten- and sugar-based foods.
Suddenly I found myself eating boiled chicken for three months. And it wasn’t fun at all!
I went from doctor to doctor: an allergist, a dermatologist, an immunologist, a hematologist, and even a mystic when I had already lost all my hopes. Finally got a diagnosis: I suffered from an autoimmune disease, a weird one—Primary Autoimmune Neutropenia.
At that moment, my heart fell apart. I blamed myself many times- What did I do to end up like that at 27? So, I judged myself poorly and started questioning my whole life.
Recovery and resurrection
I didn’t know then that this illness would make me wake up to a new version of myself. In fact, it opened a new world of self-love, acceptance, compassion, and forgiveness.
After a while, I started looking for more information about autoimmune diseases. Then, I understood that I needed to shift my mindset, habits, and lifestyle.
I received a lot of love and pampering 🥰. Of course, they are utterly necessary for any healing journey, but unfortunately, I didn’t know how to love myself back then.
Then, and by a stroke of luck, the Louise Hay film “You can heal your life” fell into my hands.
I started meditating, using Louise’s positive affirmations, forgiveness, and self-love tips.
And I became my biggest advocate. I began to love myself unconditionally and learned how to manage my mind positively.
Indeed, I became my fan number 1 and began to believe that God and life wanted me to heal and truly be happy.
And so began my love story.
Step by step, I started transitioning over to a healthier lifestyle.
I made peace with my mind and gave it positive thoughts to work with about almost everything. Also, I started loving and respecting my body like the greatest treasure I would ever have, the temple of my soul, my true home.
Likewise, I carefully chose my friends and the people I surrounded myself with.
I left behind some friends and family members because it didn’t help in my healing progress to have them around.
But then, suddenly, my rash disappeared, my attitude towards life positively improved, and everything I ever wanted began to happen:
- Traveling around the world
- Being fit and energetic
- Finding the love of my life
- Attracting healthy relationships
- Finding better jobs and professional opportunities
It was magic how my life switched when I started truly loving myself. And I was deeply grateful for the opportunity to start anew.
In 2019, I started this blog and my Youtube Channel to stay motivated throughout my wellness journey while connecting with like-minded people worldwide.
That was a big year! I finally quit my job as a musician, moved to Canada, and married the love of my life.
Health Coaching path
Next, in 2020 I decided to pursue my passion for wellness and health. So, I found the IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition) program and became a Health Coach.
A little later, I got pregnant and had my first baby. That inspired me to learn more about nutrition, lifestyle, and what steps to follow from the beginning of my pregnancy so my baby would grow into a healthy and vibrant woman.
Today, I see my autoimmune disease as my superpower. It gives me the strength to live my life to the fullest. It reminds me of loving myself fiercely every day by eating the best food and having healthy habits and relationships.
Likewise, I keep working on my mindset through meditation and mindfulness practice. And thanks to these practices, I now have more constructive thoughts and behaviors.
I am filled with love for every revealing step of my healing process and deeply grateful for all the incredible tools I discovered along the way. And Hey! I never felt better before!
What can you expect to find in Wife New Life Blog?
Wives, moms, and grandmas are the first care providers in our families. But, unfortunately, we forget about providing ourselves with the same loving attention we bring others.
During my research, I discovered that 80% of people with autoimmune diseases are women. So, as a survivor, I committed to spreading the word about the tips I learned as a health coach to heal my life. Because this problem wasn’t just about me anymore but all the women on Earth.
I always share tips about healthy nutrition, stress management, self-care, and building positive relationships.
So, If you are on a well-being and self-development journey, I can certainly support you. I’m passionate and feel my debt to the world is sharing what I know.
